Intestinal Amylodosis Secondary to Rheumatoid Arthritis in a Patient On Long Term Hemodialysis Treatment

Abstract

|
Amyloidosis is an intriguing disorder with a vast number of gastrointestinal manifestations from asymptomatic to gastrointestinal manifestations from asymptomatic to gastrointestinal bleeding that can easily be missed on inital evaluation.
We have experienced a case of intestinal amylooidosis associated rhemumatoid arthritis in a 58 years old woman who has been on maintenance hemodialysis for 6 years. She admitted because of lower abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and
abdominal
fullness. Characteristic radiological feature consists of diffuse thickening of the small bowel valvulae conniventes was the first clue for the diagnosis of intestinal amyloidosis, and a subsequent rectal biopsy established the diagnosis.
